Flooded Fail to Bioswale

Prior to colonization and massive urbanization, the San Fernando Valley collected water and became a wetland during the rainy season. As concrete covered the permeable soil on our streets and waterways, water collection became something of the past. Part of restoring LA’s ecosystem involves creating as many water collection sites as possible to mimic the natural actions of this land. REC is working on developing this flood-prone area into a bioswale for water collection.
